World's Longest Bike

Date of Record: 17/01/2015

Not a bicycle built for 'two', but a bicycle built for 'twenty'!!

A bike, almost 42 metres long, weighing 2.5 tonnes and able to carry a 20-strong riding crew, was designed and built by a team from Santos and the University of South Australia.

The record attempt was made with a crew of just seven riders, who smashed the previous world record by an unbelievable 16 metres.

To qualify for the record the bike must have two wheels and be ridden in the same way as a standard bike. It had to be powered by pedal and chain and move the minimum distance of 100 metres, being ridden continuously and unassisted.
