Longest Chain Of Students Reading Aloud For Ten Minutes - Shellharbour Anglican College NSW

Date of Record: 25/08/2014

Shellharbour Anglican College Students have made the 'Longest Chain of Students Reading Books Aloud for Ten Minutes.'

Inspired by Australian Children's Book Week theme 'Connect to Reading', and because of their love of record breaking, all participants were enthused and determined to make it into The Australian Book of Records.

Students from kindergarten to Year 12 took part.

An incredible 575 students sat in an interconnected seating arrangement and linked arms with the students next to them, being guided by the teaching staff.

A countdown was given by the Head of College and then a hooter sounded beginning the record attempt. The children all read from their books whilst witnesses watched ensuring all record guidelines were adhered to. The entire event was videoed.
