Goal umpire Chelsea Roffey became the first woman to officiate at an AFL Grand Final when Hawthorn went up against the Sydney Swans at the MCG on Saturday 29th September 2012. \"The fact I\'m a woman doesn\'t really come into it. So much work goes into umpiring, to have the opportunity to go out and do a Grand Final is something I know I worked hard for,\" she says.
The match was attended by 99,683 spectators and was won by Sydney, marking the club\'s fifth VFL/AFL premiership victory. Sydney\'s Ryan O\'Keefe was awarded the Norm Smith Medal as the best player on the ground.
