First Snowboarder to Compete in All Three Events at a Winter Olympics - Torah Bright
Date of Record: 06/02/2014
Torah Bright was on skis at the age of two, snowboarding at 11, and had turned professional by the time she was 14. There was no other way but 'up' for the young star who won gold at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.
The 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, brought her into record breaking territory prior to commencing physical competition.
The 27-year-old Australian had already qualified to defend the halfpipe title she won in Vancouver and compete in the slopestyle, a new event where competitors perform tricks through a course of jumps and rails. But her place in the boardercross event, where boarders go head-to-head in a race, sealed her record deal, making her the first snowboarder to compete in all three events at a Winter Olympics.
