Youngest Ever National Cricket Captain, Male or Female, at just 21 Years of Age - Meg Lanning
Date of Record: 19/01/2014
Meg Lanning, Captain of Australia's Women's Cricket Team, became Australia's youngest ever national cricket captain, male or female, at just 21 years of age.
Because of the misfortune of her skipper Jodie Fields, in fracturing her finger, Meg was thrust into the position earlier than expected. A challenge to Meg, aware that herself and her top-order batsman had to fire up or the Ashes would be lost.
Australia has to win all five of the remaining matches to reclaim the urn from England.
Meg a great inspiration to young female players, scored 78 not out, 42 and 23 delivering Australia a 2-1 win in the T20 component of the Ashes.
